Every problem has a number and a point value. Climb whatever you like, in any order. When time's up, your five hardest sends are your score.
Only Advanced Men's and Women's move on to finals. Everyone else is done after their heat and welcome to stay and cheer.

Good questions.
When does my heat start?
Heat 1 climbs 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Heat 2 climbs 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Arrive at UREC an hour before your heat to check in, warm up, and hear the rules of the comp.
Can I watch finals?
Yes! Finals start at 5 pm and are free for anyone to come watch. There will be a DJ and announcers, so come cheer on the finalists.
I've never done a comp. Should I sign up?
Absolutely. Astrobloc is open to all skill levels, and the Beginner category exists for exactly this. It's two hours of climbing with music and friends. Nobody is watching your score but you.
Can I climb in both heats?
No, one heat per climber. Pick the time that works for you. Registering with friends? You can buy everyone's tickets in one go, even across both heats. Add one ticket per climber and enter each climber's name, category and emergency contact at checkout.
What should I bring?
Climbing shoes and chalk. Water. Something to eat between your heat and finals if you're staying. Your registration confirmation on your phone helps at check-in but isn't required.
Refunds and transfers
Can't make it? Email us and we'll transfer your spot to a friend. Refund details will be posted here before registration opens.
Where is UREC and where do I park?
University Recreation Center, 701 Driver Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Open in Maps. Visitor parking is in the decks near UREC; check JMU parking for Friday rules.
